This project was commissioed by the Museums Service and is a collaboration with a several poets, whose literary response presented alongside the images, brings another level of engagement with the folktale. In a Different Light is inspired by fairy tales, folk tales, mythology and literature; narratives that work to distinguish communities through their allegiance to different belief systems and ancestors, but also unite humanity through the common motifs that recur across diverse cultures’ oral (and, latterly, written) traditions. I have worked with Hindu myths and African proverbs, a Nepalese tales and the Old Testament.  My influences demonstrate the universality of story-telling, as well as the eclecticism that characterises it.
